Rémi is a Canadian jazz trumpeter and the 2023 recipient of the prestigious Radio-Canada Jazz Revelation of the Year award. Known for his genre-blending approach and thoughtful compositions, Rémi brings a fresh and socially conscious voice to the contemporary jazz scene.
Rémi's upcoming record, Rich State of Mind (set for release in January 2026), delves even deeper into genre fusion. Drawing inspiration from hip-hop and nu-jazz pioneers like Robert Glasper and Roy Hargrove, the album reflects on the intangible sources of wealth in life—community, creativity, and resilience—rather than material gain. The record will feature celebrated guest artists Braxton Cook and David Binney on saxophone, further enhancing its layered, collaborative spirit.
His debut album, Glimpse (2023), introduced listeners to a dynamic musical world shaped by a wide range of influences. The project weaves together threads of European jazz, modern jazz, and North African rhythms, all while offering a subtle commentary on the pervasive impact of social media in our lives. As its title suggests, Glimpse offers both a personal and artistic snapshot of Rémi’s evolving identity.
Rémi’s career continues to grow through his collaborations with both local and international artists. In Canada, he has performed with renowned musicians such as Alain Caron, Oliver Jones, and Vox Sambou. Internationally, he has shared the stage with jazz legends including Dave Holland, Randy Brecker, and Chris Potter, earning acclaim for his versatility and expressive style.
With a unique voice on the trumpet and a forward-thinking musical vision, Rémi is a rising force in jazz, pushing boundaries while staying grounded in meaningful storytelling and deep-rooted artistry.
